Last Train Home
w/special guest Van Meter
Friday, August 8th $15 8 P.M.
country-rock/Americana/roots-rock
| "One of the country's most formidable roots-rock bands."
That's the assessment of critic Peter Cooper of Nashville’s Tennessean newspaper about Last Train Home. And while roots-rock is the heart of LTH's sound, don't overlook the country, swing, bluegrass, blues, folk, mariachi, punk, pop, and Tin Pan Alley influences you'll find if you lend this band an ear. What began as a part-time band in Washington D.C. back in 1997 has evolved an acclaimed full-time touring unit based out of Nashville.
In 2005, LTH performed on the CBS "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson," and on the public radio show, "Mountain Stage,” and was named by the Tennessean as one of the finest live acts of the year: "Best Live Show of 2005: Tie between Neil Young at the Ryman and Last Train Home at the Family Wash." |

The Jon Carroll Band
w/Ben Carroll
Saturday, August 9th $12 8 P.M.
pop-rock
2007 was a banner year for Grammy Award winning instrumentalist Jon Carroll.
After a long and artistically rich career as a songwriter, sideman to-the-stars, composer, singer, multi-instrumentalist and performer, Jon released his first new album of solo material in over ten years in 2007, and the results were stunning.
Since his early days of national notoriety with the Grammy-Award winning Starland Vocal Band (Afternoon Delight) Carroll has wowed audiences near and far with his exciting and energetic keyboard, guitar and vocal prowess behind a league of renowned artists that includes Mary Chapin Carpenter, Rodney Crowell, Dixie Chicks and many others. His songs have been recorded by Linda Ronstadt, Tom Jones and Kenny Rogers to name a few. He is a sought-after player/producer and this collection of tunes is a popping yet intimate offering of Jon’s many sides that will have your hips shaking, your mind thinking, and, occasionally, your heart aching.
Ben Carroll has performed alongside Grammy-winner John Legend on The Today Show on NBC television, and has shared the stage with many other great artists around North America and Europe, playing 100 plus shows over the past few years. Amore Magazine's reader poll voted Carroll a top solo artist, and his songwriting and performance strengths have been celebrated by BMI New York.

Jim Bianco
w/Jayme
Wednesday, August 13th $13.50 8 P.M.
indie/singer-songwriter
Since our January inception, we have been lucky enough to host some of the industry's greatest up and coming talents. Jim Bianco will be another act that sends people home talking to themselves.
" In his own words:
I write songs. Sometimes about love, sometimes about sex, sometimes about stalkers, or music or folly or the Devil. I notice that most songs around are about love, which reminds me of a quote, by Frank Zappa:
“There are more love songs than anything else. If songs could make you do
something, we'd all love one another.”
"Bianco has catapulted himself onto a level of eclectic song craft on par with Elvis Costello and Tom Waits."

Kat Parsons
Thursday, August 14th $12 8 P.M.
pop-rock
It never takes long for Kat Parsons to win over a crowd. From the first time she stepped foot in Easton’s Chez Lafitte she started to win over fans who have since clamored to get her back.
It’s easy to see why fans are drawn to Parsons, the daughter of two American musicians living in Austria. Her songs are winners – mature takes on the complexities of relationships, akin to the great seventies AM radio hits of female songwriters like Carole King and Joni Mitchell. While Parsons’ songs are strong enough for the big stage, it is still good to get to see her play the small ones, as the end result is everything a performance at a small venue should be…enchanting, amusing, bewitching; even poignant if you want it to be.

Chester River Runoff
Saturday, August 16th $15 8 P.M.
bluegrass/Americana
Chester River Runoff plays music that is continuously evolving from their inception in the fall of 2004 when four young musicians from divergent musical backgrounds decided to master the driving bluegrass that they all had loved. Together they have established a country bluegrass sound that echoes in the wide open spaces of the Chesapeake carrying it to venues and radio airwaves across the region. They have grown from a small town string band that relied more on humor than prowess, to a dynamic bluegrass band. With a confluence of styles and interests that flow together, they continue to develop a style that is all their own.

Mando Saenz and
Stephen Simmons
Sunday, August 17th $12 7 P.M.
alt-country
Mando Saenz wowed a small crowd when he appeared at Coffee East in May as part of the venue's emerging artist showcase. One of country music's best new songwriters, Saenz carries a sound that is equal parts Nashville and Austin, with a creative angle that belies the indie scenes of the Great Northwest. His latest album, Bucket, will go down as one of 2008's banner releases.
Stephen Simmons' latest album, Something In Between, combines virtuosic song craft and musicianship with unparalleled artistic honesty. “Don’t Mind Me,” for example, turns a jaded eye toward the perils of drunken conversation and the frustrations of a barroom troubadour. “And don’t mind me,” he sings, “Just keep it moving along/ The last thing in this world that I need/ Is a bar full of yapping jaws/ And don’t mind me/ Man I’ll pay when I’m done/ Already owed everybody/ Before I ever begun.”
Don't miss this chance to see two great songwriters.

Robbie Schaefer’s mom thinks he’s really great—In case you haven’t spoken with her lately, Robbie Schaefer is the guitarist and songwriter for the acclaimed independent folk/rock band Eddie From Ohio. In recent years Robbie has also turned his musical attention toward solo projects, (releasing In The Flesh, a live solo album, in 2003), composing and recording the theme song for the theatrical production Gulf View Drive (by New York playwright Arlene Hutton), which premiered at the Actor’s Co-Op in Hollywood, CA in 2006, and releasing his first CD for kids and families, Songs For Kids Like Us on Rocket Pop Records in 2006.
